Msft 50 Dhcp

**DHCP Vendor Class Identification on Network Devices** Recently, it has been observed that devices running Windows 8 and Asus routers use the vendor class MSFT 50 in their DHCPv4 client requests. This vendor class identifier is typically associated with Microsoft, as "MSFT" is their stock ticker symbol. By utilizing Wireshark to monitor the DHCP communication between devices and the Wi-Fi router's DHCP server, it was discovered that this issue also affects devices running Windows 7. Earlier versions of Windows may also be affected, though this has not been confirmed. This finding highlights the importance of understanding the vendor class information exchanged during DHCP requests. It allows network administrators and security professionals to identify and differentiate devices on their networks and to troubleshoot potential connectivity issues.
